Henrik Ibsen’s The Wild Duck

in a new version by David Auburn
Directed by Craig Baldwin

Lansburgh Theatre

Perhaps Ibsen’s greatest masterpiece, The Wild Duck reveals how explosive good intentions can be. When an old friend comes to stay with the Ekdals, he idealistically exposes the truth that they have long been ignoring, only to realize that some families cannot survive without a few happy lies.

Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Auburn ( Proof , The Lost Lake ) revitalizes Ibsen’s tragicomedy for modern audiences. After the reading, Auburn will join Director Craig Baldwin in conversation about this brand new play.

The ReDiscovery Reading Series introduces audiences to new adaptations of great but lesser-known classic plays under consideration for STC’s mainstage seasons.
