Join our family of artists and educators by taking Classes at STC!
All of our classes are taught by working professionals, award-winning actors and STC Affiliated Artists and staff. When you take a theatre or acting class at STC, you have access to the most successful and generous theatre artists in D.C. whether you receive individual feedback in an acting lesson, have a conversation during a break or join us for one of our social events throughout the year.
Explore the schedule below for classes covering a range of subjects including acting lessons for beginners, advanced topics for working actors and theatre craft such as costuming and playwriting. In addition, STC offers Acting for Business Professionals focusing on presentation and communication skills.

A workshop on opening the creative capacity for the artists at all levels. Explore physical and vocal exercises to open and expand the body/mind system and the imagination. Focus will be on effective communication, cultivating physical and vocal presence, and conquering performance anxiety. This work will be fused with exploration of text from STC’s Peter Pan and Wendy while receiving individual attention from Francisco Gonzalez (Tootles in STC’s Peter Pan and Wendy).

Tuition, Discounts and Scholarships
All six-week classes cost $335, though we are happy to offer a number of discounts and scholarships.
Each additional class opens the door to great benefits and deeper engagement with STC!
Your first class costs $335
Register for your first class this season and also receive invitations to social events with our faculty throughout the year.
Take a second class for only $249
Register for a second class before July 2020 and receive two FREE tickets to select preview performances for every show throughout the season.
Each additional class is only $149
Register for additional classes before July 2020 and attend FREE workshops throughout the season (dates listed in the above accordion).
Classes are offered in multiple sessions throughout the 2019–2020 Season: Fall I, Fall II, Winter (starting January 27), Spring I (starting March 16), Spring II (starting April 27), and Summer (starting July 6).
Tuition Policies
You must call the Education Hotline at 202.547.5688 during regular business hours to register at the discounted price for additional classes. Discounted prices will not be applied retroactively and there are no refunds.
If you are unable to attend a class for any reason (including weather), no refunds or exchanges will be provided. STC rarely cancels events due to inclement weather. If STC cancels a class session for any reason, including inclement weather, we will email you. We will make every best effort to reschedule the class at a time convenient for the instructor and the majority of the students, but tuition is non-refundable.
If you are no longer able to attend the class as scheduled, please submit a written request to Classes@ShakespeareTheatre.org. 50% will be refunded if registration is withdrawn until one week prior to the first scheduled class. Starting a week prior to the first scheduled class, TUITION IS NON-REFUNDABLE.
Discounts
STC Education is happy to offer the following discounts on the $335 tuition for your first six-week class. Discounts are not available for one-day workshops. Multiple discounts may not be combined; only one discount may be applied per registration.
- Actors’ Center:15% off tuition. Actor’s Center membership number required.
- Actors’ Equity:15% off tuition. Actor’s Equity number required.
- Classroom Teachers:20% off tuition. School information required.
- College Students:15% off tuition. School information required.
- Early Registration: $25 off tuition. This discount ends a few weeks before the beginning of the session. Please see the individual session pages for precise dates.
- STC Volunteer: 10% off tuition. Confirmation required.

Scholarships
In order to make our classes accessible to everyone, need-based scholarships are available.
Please fill out the scholarship application and email it to Classes@ShakespeareTheatre.org. Applications should be submitted at least one week before the class is scheduled to begin.
