The School for Lies

Dazzle the Parisian politesse with your knowledge of fine French cocktails. In a special preview of his upcoming book, A Mixable Feast: A Cocktail Lover’s Guide to 1920’s Paris, cocktail historian and author Philip Greene guides you through the history of the French cocktail, accompanied, bien sûr, by four tasty classic cocktails.

Philip Greene is an attorney, writer and cocktail historian. He is also a founding member of and legal counsel to the Museum of the American Cocktail, and gives cocktail presentations around the world. As an authority on the drinks of Ernest Hemingway, he has presented seminars on this topic before the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C., at the Hemingway Home and Museum in Key West, and in New Orleans. Phil has also served as brand ambassador for Domaine de Canton French Ginger Liqueur and offers consulting to the bar and restaurant trade. He lives with his wife and three daughters in Washington, D.C. Copies of Greene’s books, To Have and Have Another: A Hemingway Cocktail Companion and The Manhattan: The Story of the First Modern Cocktail, will be available at the event.
