An Ideal Husband is the 13th Shakespeare Theatre Company production for which Robert Perdziola has served as Costume Designer. Of his past 12 shows, two were Oscar Wilde plays, six were directed by Keith Baxter and three earned Perdziola much-deserved Helen Hayes Awards. Perdziola discusses some of the costumes for An Ideal Husband, sketched and painted with his signature attention to detail. These sketches serve not only as a costuming blueprint, but also as vivid depictions of Wilde’s characters themselves.
The slideshow below provides some of Perdziola’s costume sketches. Click on each sketch to find out more about it.
